Ross Allen joins Hypersonica in defence tech move
The much beloved former UK Ambassador to Estonia, who left our shores only a month ago, has announced his new gig and it’s in a defence tech startup.
Taking to LinkedIn yesterday Ross Allen said that his new role is Government Affairs Director UK Hypersonica, an Anglo-German defence and aerospace company which develops hypersonic missiles.
His time in Estonia seems to have influenced his move into a defence firm as he said in his post “I was particularly drawn to the ambition and pace of the team, and the mission. Having spent the past five years in Estonia working on defence, security, deterring Russia, supporting Ukraine, and strengthening UK-European cooperation, it felt like a perfect next step.”
“A hugely motivating mission, and I’m excited to get started,” he added.
Estonian lessons
Before departing Estonia, Allen, who had spent five years in Estonia in his ambassador role and fell in love with the country during that time, launched a book about the country called Estonian Lessons: What the World Can Learn from a Brilliant Baltic State.
Fomo.Observer spoke with him about the book, his life in Estonia and interests in defence before he left. You can listen to the podcast here.
